Aaron James - Artist, acoustic ecologist, curator, and researcher
Studio 9
Aaron James is an artist, acoustic ecologist, curator, and researcher.
His work explores how environments are shaped through both the introduction of sound and its sociomaterial conditioning. Drawing on biophilic and xenobiophilic approaches, his practice currently attends to relationships between human and nonhuman systems, including those that are unfamiliar, peripheral, or difficult to perceive. He often works with vernacular materials and site-responsive processes that engage local ecologies and temporal variation.
He has been commissioned by and presented work at institutions including Tate, Arnolfini, and ZKM. His work has been featured in publications such as Time Out, The Guardian, and Resident Advisor.
