Sarah Myatt
Sarah spends her spare time in the outdoors, walking in National parks and along the coast. This is the inspiration for her land and seascapes. She paints in oils to ensure the colours of nature are captured on canvas and prefers painting on a large scale to bring the outdoors in and transport the viewer to the outdoors.
Carys Hellewell
Carys Hellewell, a skilled painter specializing in oil paints, is based in Gloucestershire, where she was born and raised. She has aspired to be an artist from a young age and began painting early in life. In 2021, she commenced a part-time Fine Art Degree at Bath School of Art. Balancing her Fine Art studies with Motherhood, she has honed her skills with oil paints and advanced her practice, drawing inspiration from the romantic master J.M.W. Turner, particularly his exceptional command of light and colour. Her profound appreciation for nature is evident in her dramatic skyscapes and serene landscapes.
Caroline Bourne
Having only brief formal art training I now thoroughly enjoy the experience of working alongside others - it’s my inspiration, together with exploring the art world through exhibitions and galleries. I love learning different techniques and applications and paint whatever catches my eye working mostly in oils or acrylic. Always learning!
Helen Gornall
An unusual aspect to my paintings is that every part of the scene is portrayed, there are no ‘lost and found’ edges which are typically a major element in traditional paintings. By defining every element within the composition I create a significant challenge, and so both careful construction and mindful colour selection are essential.
Jane Roberts
I am a painter, working mainly in oils, seeking to represent the world, bringing it to life in ways a photographer cannot. I didn’t go to art school, maybe I will one day, but I am enjoying the freedom to develop my art the way I want, so maybe I won’t. I am a member of Stroud Artists Co-op and the extent of local talent is amazing, we are so lucky to have such a strong supportive artistic community.
My adult ADHD son took his own life in 2020, which changed my life forever and I now divide my time between painting and my charity project to help young people growing up neurodivergent to find self-acceptance and pride in themselves, Gloucestershire Youth ND Project. Ben would not have had the long mental health struggle that he suffered if he had had the right understanding and support from an early age, so the purpose of the project is to help others like him find a happy path in life.
All my sales proceeds go to Gloucestershire Youth ND Project, www.neurodiversitygloucestershire.org
Sue Elliott
Like many people I started painting when we went into lockdown in early 2020. Since then I’ve mainly worked with both oil and acrylics, mostly on landscapes, trying to find a style to call my own.
