Botanical themed workshop - with Kathy Clare Ceramics and Sophie Starlingpots Ceramics
Friday 4th July, 10am - 3pm
The Setting Gallery, Three Storeys, Nailsworth, GL6 0JE
During this one day artist-led immersive workshop, we will take you through the design and making process for both a botanical themed vase or lamp, and a stoneware flower plate or grasses platter. Both pieces will create gorgeous accents for your home.
Suitable for all - for beginners who would like to learn something new and those more confident with painting and working with clay. We are both experienced teachers and will tailor the day to suit your abilities.
This is a one day artist led immersive workshop, lead by Kathy Clare and Sophie within the private gallery workshop at Three Storeys in Nailsworth.
Kathy Clare has a studio at The Three Storeys and is a ceramicist specialising in decorative porcelain casting and botanical illustration. Sophie has a pottery studio in Nailsworth and specialises in functional hand built homeware and pretty ceramics to spark joy. Together, they will take you through the design and making process for 2 pieces.
The first piece you make will be a botanical themed flower bud vase that can also be used as a tea light holder. You will use porcelain clay and a bespoke range of ceramic stains to watercolour and relief glaze your piece.
Your second make will be using stoneware clay and a selection of locally grown grasses and dried flowers to create a floral impressions botanical platter.
At the end of the day we will carefully dry, kiln fire and glaze your work ready to collect in 2 weeks time.
All your materials and equipment are provided, we will have examples and inspiration ideas for you.
