Tree Stories - Sue Torres and Wendy Milner

Tree Stories - Sue Torres and Wendy Milner

Tuesday 18th November - Sunday 23rd November, The Setting gallery, Tuesday to Saturday 10am - 4pm, Sunday 10am - 3pm

Sue Torres is a Stroud based Artist and Maker. Her present sculptural work is a creative dialogue between nature and narrative- where trees, textures and memories intertwine through mixed media and storytelling.

As her imagination takes over, she breathes life into copper wire.  A twig- a branch- a bough- a tree.  Her sculptures evolve with no set end point but using her innate understanding of the fractal qualities of trees in winter she intuitively captures their spirit.

Wendy has been immersed in the world of painting and drawing since the age of four. Although she experimented with various creative outlets over the years, she has found her passion in mastering gouache and watercolour painting—skills she has honed without any formal training. Wendy’s short-sightedness encourages her to examine her subjects in intimate detail, a perspective that profoundly influences her art.

As an avid moth recorder, Wendy has encountered a remarkable array of moths and invertebrates, experiences which have fuelled her artistic vision. Her work seeks to capture the vibrant, jewel-like qualities of these often-overlooked creatures, inviting viewers to discover and appreciate the intricate beauty hidden in the natural world. Through her art, Wendy hopes to inspire others to look more closely and connect with the delicate wonders that surround us every day.
